FIXED-TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER
Purpose:
Shell-and-tube heat exchangers are the most widespread devices. They are used for heat exchange and thermochemical processes between various liquids, vapours and gases – with and without a change in their aggregative state.
Shell-and-tube heat exchangers have become the most widely used type of apparatus. This is due, above all, to their reliable construction, a large set of execution options for different operating conditions, in particular:
- single-phase flows, boiling and condensation in hot and cold sides of the heat exchanger with vertical or horizontal execution;
- pressure range from vacuum to high values;
- widely varying pressure drops on both sides due to wide variety of options;
- meeting the thermal stresses requirements without significantly increasing the cost of the device;
- sizes from small to very large (5000 m²);
- possibility to use different materials in accordance with the cost, corrosion, temperature and pressure requirements;
- use of advanced heat transfer surfaces inside and outside the pipe, various enhancers, etc.;
- possible extraction of the tube bank for cleaning and repair.
